About Us
As a full service quilt shop specializing in 1930's, early 1800's, Jo Morton & civil war fabrics, we also offer a wide variety of brights, & conversation prints. We carry quilt books, patterns & notions just waiting for you to choose your next project. I now have over twenty-five Exclusive Speckled Hen Quilt patterns. Classes & workshops are scheduled at many different times of the year, so that we may accommodate our customers who come from the Portland & suburban metro area as well as up & down the I-5 corridor. We also carry a great selection of gifts & collectibles for the quilter!
We are not just a quilt shop! We are a gathering place to exchange ideas, shop for that 'oh! so right' fabric to create your next masterpiece... pick up a memento of your visit, or a teddy bear for someone you love!
Our staff is known for their friendly Pacific Northwest hospitality, and they are here to help, whether you are just browsing, or a long time customer in need of that special fabric for your next project. We encourage you to join one of our many classes or just come 'Sit & Sew' when you are in the area. Call for 'Sit & Sew' hours to reserve your space.
Over the last nineteen years, my business has seen many changes. Starting out as a self employed shop keeper selling antiques & collectibles, I never dreamed I would one day be the proud owner of a wonderful quilt shop! (Being chosen as a TOP TEN QUILT SHOP by Quilt Sampler magazine in fall 2007 was very exciting!) Along the way there were a few bumps in the road including '& Lizzie's too!', my endeavor at being a restaurateur, and our name change from 'Jacob's House Quilt Shop' to 'Speckled Hen Quilts' & finally our BIG move to Wilsonville in July 2002. We have recently moved (April 1st, 2009)to a more visible location, just one block north of our original location, into a cozy space with the same lighting & more visibility.
I hope all the many friends I have made along the way will join in sharing more of 'Karen's Big Adventure' by dropping in to see us in our newest location here in Wilsonville.
